Commissions (and a peek into the process of deciding what to make!)

Yes, I do commissions! Please reach out to give me an idea of what you are looking for and we can work together on the details.

What is it like to design a painting with me from start to end? Here is a basic outline of the process! I’ll ask you the following questions to help determine the best option.

  • What sort of a product would you like? Art that can hang on a wall or be displayed? Functional art, like coasters, trivets, or glasses? Glass tabletops? The possibilities are endless!

  • For wall art- what material would you like the product to be made of? Canvas, MDF wood, or ceramic tile? What shape would you like? At the moment I make round, square, and rectangular shapes in canvas and wood, and 4” and 6” square, and 8’’ hexagon ceramic tiles.

  • What color(s) would you like? Paintings can be as basic as a simple monotone… one color plus cell activator color (usually white or black), up to many many colors. The most I have used at once has been 15! For most, somewhere between 3-6 colors are typically best.

The tile on the left has one color with black cell activator; tile on the right only has two colors plus black cell activator. Sometimes simple is best!

  • What kind of finish do you prefer? I almost exclusively use traditional varnish on canvas and resin on wood and tile, but I’d be happy to discuss the differences and help you choose.

Examples of a canvas round finished with varnish next to a wooden round finished with resin. Varnish is more subtle and allows textures of the paint to come through; resin is a tough shiny coating that makes the paint look as though it were still shimmery wet. Both are wonderful options- it depends on personal taste

  • How would you like the finished product displayed? I can attach hanging equipment if you choose the painting orientation ahead of shipping. Large tiles have the option to be framed. Small tiles can be displayed as multiples in a frame, have felt added to the bottom to become functional coasters, or made into other displays.

A few quick notes:

  • Commissions take time. It typically takes three weeks between when a painting is made and when it can be varnished. Smaller items such as coasters may take less time; larger canvases with layers of colors may take longer. Traditional varnish only takes a few days, but resin will require an extra week to allow several coats and curing time. This is also assuming that I do not need to special order any products (sizes, shapes, etc). I will do my best to give an estimated shipping date

  • Jewelry can be quite quick to make, as long as I have the design you are requesting at hand

  • Commissions require 50% deposit before working on the project. I will send photos of the project for approval, then request the final payment just before shipping. Products are non refundable.

  • Shipping is not included

  • I look forward to working with you!
